External Pond Pumps
External pond pumps are often the choice for large ponds and water gardens or ponds that have water flowing through multiple points like a filter and a fountain or waterfall. External pond pumps are capable of pushing larger amounts of water per hour than the smaller submersible pumps.
Tips
- Keep pump as close to pond as possible. It needs to be within 6' of the edge of the pond
- Ideally the pump should be placed on ground level or below to work best.
- A priming pot is recommended
- If there is no priming pot, a check valve on the intake line can work to help the pump keep its prime.
